What is the Role of SBCA?

SBCA is a regulatory and supervisory body. It implements Karachi Building and Town Planning Regulation. Any structures in violation of approved building plans are demolished. Issue licenses to professionals, builders, and developers under Karachi Building & Town Planning Regulations 2002.


Why SBCA Claims that Bahria Town Construction is illegal?

The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) informed the Sindh High Court that all the Bahria Town Karachi construction activities were unauthorized and illegal.

Their “Bahria Greens” project was launched without obtaining a Sale and Advertisement No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the authority.

An SBCA Deputy Director (Design and Complaint) filed comments before a two-judge bench headed by Justice Khadim Hussain Shaikh. The comments said that Bahria Town had launched a publicity campaign for Bahria Greens before acquiring land, procuring relevant authority approval, and obtaining the NOC (as required under Section 5 of SBCO 1979).

Regarding this, a letter was issued to Bahria Town dated 20-11-2018 whereas a public notice was published in newspapers dated 28-11-2018 for awareness to the general public after legal vetting by the legal section of SBCA

This act had created a massive discussion all over the people of Pakistan as well as the out-of-the-country who invest in Bahria Town Karachi until now.


NOC (No Objection Certificate) To Bahria Town Karachi

The big news of this year SBCA NOC (No Objection Certificate) has been issued to Bahria Town Karachi. No objection certificate for the sale and advertisement of residential and commercial open plots of project Bahria town Karachi has been provisionally granted by SBCA.

This approval is specifically for total land measuring 16,896 acres in Deh Bolari, De Langheji, Deh Konkar, Deh Kharkharo, Deh Katore District, Bahria Town Karachi Subdivision / Taluka Ga.

In this approval, it is mentioned that this NOC is being issued based on the layout plan approved by the director of T.P Malir Development Authority. It is mentioned with the condition that Bahria Town will strictly follow the terms and conditions/directions/orders passed by the Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan.
